What to Expect
Your Session With Rob Schommer Photography
A Cinematic Experience From Start to Finish
Every session is designed to feel intentional, creative, and comfortable. Whether you’re stepping into a bold concept, an intimate boudoir moment, or a moody urban portrait, here’s exactly what you can expect from the process.
Before Your Session
1. Creative Consultation
We’ll talk through your vision—mood, styling, location, and the story you want your images to tell. This is where we shape the vibe: cinematic, intimate, gritty, elegant, or something entirely your own.
2. Moodboard & Concept Planning
You’ll receive a curated moodboard or visual direction guide. This helps align styling, lighting, and posing so we walk into the session with a shared creative language.
3. Wardrobe Guidance
You’ll get personalized suggestions based on your session type:
- Boudoir: flattering silhouettes, textures, and layering options
- Editorial/Urban: bold shapes, dramatic lines, and statement pieces
- Branding: clean, intentional outfits that reflect your identity
- Bring options—we’ll choose what photographs best.
4. Location Prep
If we’re shooting on location, you’ll receive details on parking, meeting spots, and any environmental considerations (weather, walking distance, etc.). For studio or indoor sessions, you’ll get tips on what to bring and how to prepare.
During Your Session
1. Guided Posing & Direction
You don’t need experience. I’ll guide you through posing, expression, and movement so you feel confident and natural in front of the camera.
2. A Comfortable, Collaborative Atmosphere
Expect a mix of direction and creative flow. We’ll experiment, adjust, and build moments that feel authentic to you.
3. Cinematic Lighting & Mood
Lighting is crafted intentionally—whether it’s soft and intimate, bold and dramatic, or neonlit and urban. This is where the cinematic feel truly begins.
4. RealTime Review (Optional)
If you’d like, we can review a few shots during the session to finetune posing, styling, or mood.
After Your Session
1. Preview Gallery
Within a few days, you’ll receive a curated selection of the best images so you can choose your favorites for editing.
2. Signature Editing & Retouching
Every selected image goes through a luxury editing process:
- cinematic color grading
- refined skin work
- artistic enhancements
- mood driven finishing touches
- Your images will feel polished, expressive, and true to the vision we created.
3. Final Delivery
You’ll receive high resolution digital files in a private online gallery. Prints, albums, and wall art are available as optional addons.

Session Day Timeline — Rob Schommer Photography
A smooth, cinematic experience from the moment you arrive
This timeline gives clients a clear sense of how the day flows—structured enough to feel prepared, flexible enough to keep the creative energy alive.
1. Arrival & Warm-up (0:00–0:10)
You’ll arrive at the studio or location, settle in, and get comfortable. We’ll chat briefly, walk through the plan, and make any lastminute adjustments to wardrobe or styling. This is also where we set the tone—calm, confident, and creatively open.
2. Wardrobe Finalization & Styling Touchups (0:10–0:20)
We’ll review your outfit options and choose the pieces that best match the mood and lighting. For boudoir or conceptual sessions, this is where layering, accessories, and textures come into play. If needed, you’ll have a moment for hair, makeup, or quick adjustments.
3. Lighting Setup & Test Shots (0:20–0:30)
I’ll dial in the lighting—cinematic, dramatic, soft, or moody depending on the session. We’ll take a few test shots to warm up and make sure everything feels natural and flattering.
4. Guided Posing & Shooting (0:30–1:30)
This is the heart of the session. You’ll receive clear, supportive direction on posing, expression, and movement. Expect a mix of:
- structured poses
- natural transitions
- creative experimentation
- moments of stillness and emotion
- We’ll pause occasionally to review a few images and finetune the vibe.
Note: Session length varies—boudoir and conceptual shoots often run longer to allow for deeper creative flow.
5. Outfit or Location Changes (as needed)
If your session includes multiple looks or settings, we’ll transition smoothly. Urban/editorial shoots may involve short walks between spots; conceptual sessions may include prop or lighting changes.
6. Final Creative Set (last 10–15 minutes)
We’ll wrap with a final round of shots—often the most relaxed and expressive of the session. This is where clients tend to feel fully warmed up and confident, and it shows in the images.
7. Wrap-up & Next Steps (end of session)
We’ll review what we captured, talk through the next steps, and answer any questions. You’ll leave knowing exactly what comes next:
- when to expect your preview gallery
- how to select your favorites
- what the editing process looks like
- optional print or album upgrades
8. After You Leave
I begin curating your images, selecting the strongest moments, and preparing your preview gallery. This is where the cinematic magic really starts to take shape.
